Avoid products with alcohol

Skin conditions worsen in winter: it can become dry, flaky, and covered with red spots in the cold. It’s important to choose the right self-care products to help you cope with the extremes of winter.

Keep your blood vessels toned

To reduce heat loss, the body responds to cold by constricting blood vessels. This can cause the top layer of skin (or epidermis) without blood flow to freeze. By providing thermoregulation, the vessels of the skin begin to contract and expand at regular intervals.

It is important that the blood vessels are toned and able to respond to temperature changes. To increase the tone of the vascular wall, use special cosmetic preparations. For example, such as those that stimulate the surface vessels of the skin and make them contract and expand in turn. This increases their elasticity and ability to withstand the cold.

Moisturizing your skin in winter is a must before you leave the house

Intense heating, air conditioning, and frosty air can cause dryness and flaking – major winter problems. In order to moisturize your skin, you can use products containing hyaluronic acid, glycerin, urea, aloe gel. Moisturizing cosmetics should be applied in the evening and in the morning.

Choose active ingredients

To protect your skin from the effects of frost, strong winds, and snow crystals, you should apply a protective cream with high lipid content. Ideally, the cream should contain several moisturizing agents: hyaluronic acid, aloe gel, algae polysaccharides, ceramides, as well as antioxidants which reduce the number of free radicals and restore the skin’s barrier functions. It’s important to have natural oils in your winter skincare product.

Protect your skin from the sun

During the frosty weather cover the exposed skin. Do not forget about skincare for hands: use a cream, make masks and wear gloves.

You also need to take care of your hair – it is especially important to cover your head if you have a problem with hair loss.

Avoid the “black list” of ingredients

The skin in winter is prone to dryness – because of the heating in the rooms where we work and live, the air becomes very dry. Therefore, as we have already found out, the skin needs to be moisturized. It is worth carefully choosing a cream because some products have ingredients that can freeze on the street. For example, if the cream has such an ingredient as mineral oil, it should be avoided.

Choose the right texture

A common mistake of many girls is to think that a nourishing cream, which is oily and greasy in texture, is better to use in winter, and a lightweight fluid cream is suitable for summer. Moisturizing your skin in winter is just as important as nourishing it. So don’t be afraid of cosmetics in different formats and look for what suits you individually.
