5 tips on how to drink alcohol at New Year's parties and not to hurt yourself

  • Posted 2 years ago

Everyone understands that alcohol – even the most aristocratic malbec or expensive sparkling French champagne – is definitely not a friend of good health. But what about New Year’s Eve? On New Year’s Eve, even avid followers of a healthy lifestyle can afford a glass or two.

Know your measure

For some people a final couple of glasses of wine, someone is ready to drink a bottle – and will be sober as a teardrop, and the next day ready to repeat the exploits. Do you recognize yourself? We can say that the diagnosis has been passed.

Two enzymes are responsible for splitting alcohol: alcohol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase. It is their activity that determines how quickly you get drunk and how quickly alcohol is excreted from the body.
If you get drunk quickly and feel very sick the next day, then you are not going with red dry.

Those who don’t get drunk for a long time and recover quickly the next day (these lucky people have an enzymatic system for recycling alcohol waste that works perfectly) are at the highest risk of alcoholism.

Study your weaknesses and keep them under control before they take control of you.

Drink water before, after, and during the party

The most common cause of a hangover is dehydration. Avoid splitting temples and “dryness” with a touch of nausea by balancing a glass of alcohol with two glasses of clean water.

Perhaps, holding a glass of mineral water at a party, you will be surprised to find that you also have fun and do not feel the need to pour yourself something stronger – the very fact of the glass in his hand compensates the presence of a drink in it. Remember this tip, it may save you.

Choose the right drinks

If you want a brisk morning after an evening of dancing, choose dry drinks: for example, dry wine, a small amount of pure strong alcohol (such as cognac). Avoid sweet wines, cocktails, carbonated drinks – they will cause a spike in blood sugar, slow down detoxification, provoke fermentation, and at the same time stimulate appetite – you cannot avoid overeating.

Don’t drink on an empty stomach

Eat before and during alcohol, but always in moderation. Alcohol itself instantly cancels the diet, it is the fastest carbohydrate, while absolutely empty, with zero nutritive density.

So eat boldly: be sure to eat light protein (fish, dark leafy greens, bean pates, hummus), good fiber for absorption of metabolic products (greens, sprouts, non-starchy vegetables, and berries), and quality fat – avocados, nuts, seeds, butter (for gallbladder work, without which the next morning you will feel very bad).

Move

Walk, talk, be active – movement not only activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which regulates the GI tract, but it will also distract you from the extra drink and help you spend the calories earned from alcoholic beverages.
