At the same time, autumn is the perfect time to rethink your beauty routine. “These small changes can make a big difference in the long run,” explains dermatologist Mona Gohara.

Try a thicker moisturizer

“It’s time to replenish your moisture supply with a thicker hydrator,” says Marchbain. For colder seasons, the expert recommends an oily cream with ceramides – essential fatty acids found naturally in the skin.

Start using body cream

The fastest way to prevent a dry body? That’s right – use a moisturizing lotion. “Such products create a protective barrier that allows moisture to be retained and drawn to the outer layer of the skin,” says Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital Dermatology.

Reduce the amount of exfoliating ingredients

According to Elizabeth Tanzi, associate professor of dermatology at George Washington University School of Medicine, it’s worth limiting the use of retinoids and glycolic acid in autumn. “Excessive exfoliation can create tiny cracks in the skin, which can lead to moisture loss and inflammation,” explains Joshua Zeichner.

Buy a humidifier

Dry air is another threat to the epidermis. “Low humidity levels worsen the skin’s natural water barrier, provoking flaking and dryness,” explains dermatologist Dandy Engelman. The ideal way to avoid this nuisance is to use a humidifier.

As sad as it sounds, summer has come to an end.
